Broad 40° flood light with warm 3000K color. GE ConstantColor® CMH70PAR30L/830/FL delivers 4,700 lm output, 10,000 CBCP, and UV-control with a 40° flood beam—ideal for retail floors, showrooms, and general illumination where wider coverage is needed.
40° Flood Beam Characteristics
- Wide flood spread: 40-degree beam for broad area coverage
- Moderate intensity: 10,000 candela center beam
- Best for: General lighting, wall washing, area illumination
- Coverage at 10 feet: ~7-foot diameter pool
- Comparison to 15° spot: 4.3× wider coverage, 1/4.3× the intensity
CMH70PAR30L Beam Pattern Comparison
- GE 22152 (SP15): 15° Spot, 43,000 CBCP, tightest beam, highest intensity
- GE 22159 (This Lamp - FL40): 40° Flood, 10,000 CBCP, widest coverage
Note: Some sources also reference a 25° flood version with ~14,000 CBCP intermediate between these two extremes.
Applications
Ideal for retail floors, showrooms, lobbies, and galleries where a broader 40° flood is preferred for uniform, warm-white illumination with high punch and color consistency.
Usage & Compatibility Notes
- Requires compatible 70W CMH (M98, M139, or M143) ballast; not for direct screw-in to line voltage without ballast
- Typical warm-up: 2–3 minutes to full output
- Hot re-strike: up to 10–15 minutes
- Maintain clean sockets and proper fixture ventilation to maximize life
Caution / Safety
Risk of burn: allow lamp to cool before handling. Install fully before energizing.
Risk of electric shock / fire: power off before install/removal; keep combustibles away; use fused or thermally protected ballast per instructions; use only in properly rated fixtures.
Lamp integrity: do not use if outer glass is scratched or broken. Do not exceed rated voltage or life. For outdoor use, ensure enclosed or properly rated fixtures.
UV Warning: Protected arc tube design reduces UV risk, but use adequate shielding if outer envelope is compromised.
