Product Overview

U-bend lamps exist because a 2 by 2 foot troffer cannot take a 4 foot straight tube. Bending a 32W T8 back on itself puts the same lamp length into roughly half the fixture footprint, which is why U-bends are standard in square troffers across offices, schools, and healthcare buildings. This is the 6 inch leg spacing version — the wider of the two common geometries.

Output is 2,800 lumens at 32 W, with a 3500K color temperature and 85 CRI. The 3500K point is neutral white: warmer than the 4100K commonly used in commercial offices, cooler than the 3000K typical of hospitality. It is a common specification in schools and healthcare because it reads as comfortable without going yellow. The 85 CRI is the high-CRI tier for T8 fluorescent, well above the 70s CRI of basic halophosphate lamps.

Before Ordering – Verify

Safety and Handling Guidelines

• Switch off the circuit before installing or replacing the lamp.
• Allow the outgoing lamp to cool before removal.
• Support a U-bend lamp by both legs during handling. The bend is the weakest point and the lamp will flex if carried by one end.
• Seat both bi-pin ends fully and rotate until the lamp locks in both lampholders.
• Do not force a lamp into holders set at a different leg spacing; that will crack the seals.
• Do not use the lamp if the glass is scratched, cracked, or broken.
• This lamp contains mercury. Dispose of spent lamps through an approved lamp recycler in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations rather than in general waste.
• In the event of breakage, ventilate the area, avoid vacuuming, and follow local guidance for cleanup of a broken fluorescent lamp.
