The Current / GE 38983 LEDT5/LC/G/2/840 is a 2 ft T5 Type C LED glass tube with a G5 base, rated at 4000K cool white and 80 CRI. Output is set by the LumenChoice remote driver rather than by the tube, so a single tube covers 6-18W in field-selectable steps (6W = 850 lm, 9W = 1250 lm, 12W = 1650 lm, 15W = 1900 lm, 18W = 2200 lm). Rated life is 70,000 hours to L70, and the tube carries a damp location rating for use in open or enclosed fixtures. A separate Type C remote driver is required — this tube will not operate on a fluorescent ballast or on line voltage.

The 38983 sits in the LumenChoice line, where the lamp is deliberately not tied to a single wattage: the same tube runs at any of the driver-selectable levels, so a facility can stock fewer SKUs and tune light levels room by room after installation.

Type C is an external-driver LED tube architecture. The tube itself contains no internal driver; a dedicated remote LED driver converts line voltage to low-voltage Class 2 DC and feeds the lampholders directly. Existing fluorescent ballasts must be removed and the fixture rewired to the remote driver before these tubes will operate. This arrangement is what allows 0-10V dimming and field-tunable output across an entire installation from a small number of control devices.

This version is a 2 ft T5 glass tube on a G5 base at 4000K cool white, with a maximum overall length of 22 inches. At its highest setting it produces 2200 initial lumens, and at the driver default of 12W it produces 1650 lumens.
