Product Overview

The GE LED270BT56/740 is part of GE's LED HID replacement lineup, built specifically for Type B ballast-bypass retrofits. The existing fixture is rewired to bypass the ballast entirely, which removes the need to match ballast type and eliminates ongoing ballast maintenance and replacement costs. This BT56-shaped lamp matches the ANSI length and diameter of the 400W HPS/MH lamps it replaces, allowing it to fit into existing fixture compartments without modification in most cases.

Using active-cooled LED corn cob architecture, the lamp produces omnidirectional light output similar in distribution to traditional HID sources, delivering 40,000 initial lumens at 148 LPW efficacy — roughly 3.3x longer service life than a comparable metal halide lamp (50,000 vs. 15,000 hours) while using significantly less energy for similar light output.

An in-line misapplication fuse kit is included standard with GE LED HID Type B lamps. Note that dimming is only supported via external Variac control devices; this lamp is not compatible with standard phase-cut dimmers.
