Product Overview

The Halco Prism® 107104 is a 20W 12V MR11 halogen lamp with a dichroic cool-beam reflector, designed for low-voltage track, accent, and display lighting systems. The dichroic reflector uses a multi-layer optical coating to separate visible light from infrared energy: visible light is projected forward through the cover lens while infrared heat passes rearward through the reflector body. This reduces the radiant heat load on illuminated subjects — an important advantage for retail merchandise, artwork, food displays, and delicate decorative materials.

The protective cover glass serves two purposes: it allows the lamp to be safely used in both open and enclosed fixtures, and its integrated UV filter significantly reduces ultraviolet output to further protect color-sensitive materials from fading. The C-6 axial filament geometry provides consistent beam control, and the lamp maintains greater than 90% of its initial output throughout its 3,000-hour rated life.

At 30° and 700 CBCP, the 107104 is the widest-beam, lowest-punch option in the 20W FT family — suited where broad coverage is needed within the MR11 format. For higher-intensity narrow spot or medium flood options at the same wattage, Halco offers the FTB (10°/5500 CBCP) and FTC (20°/1750 CBCP) in the same family. Before Ordering – Verify

• This is a 12V lamp requiring a step-down transformer; it is not compatible with 120V line-voltage fixtures. Confirm the transformer output is 12V AC and sized for the total wattage of all fixtures on the run.

• The Halco catalog designates the 107104 as a “Narrow Spot” at 30° — this reflects the FT product series classification, not the IES beam category for 30°; verify that 700 CBCP at 30° meets the illuminance requirement for the target application at the intended throw distance before ordering.
• For a tighter 10° narrow spot at higher intensity (5,500 CBCP): 107100 (MR11FTB/L, 20W). For 20° medium flood (1,750 CBCP): 107102 (MR11FTC/L, 20W). For 35W variants: 107106 (10°/FTE), 107108 (20°/FTF), 107110 (30°/FTH).

• Disconnect power and allow the lamp to cool completely before handling — halogen lamps operate at high surface temperatures; the cover glass retains heat after shutdown
• Do not touch the inner quartz capsule or the outer glass cover with bare skin; oils from contact cause localized thermal stress that accelerates lamp failure. If accidental contact occurs, clean with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth before energizing
• This lamp contains a pressurized quartz capsule; ensure the fixture provides appropriate shielding in case of envelope rupture
• Confirm the 12V transformer is properly sized for the load before installation; overloading a transformer shortens both transformer and lamp life
• Dispose of in accordance with local lamp recycling regulations
