Product Overview

The 64972 is part of Sylvania's METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic family, combining pulse-start metal halide characteristics (good efficacy, long life) with the improved lamp-to-lamp color consistency and high CRI of a ceramic arc tube. Compared to quartz metal halide lamps of similar wattage, it holds CCT and color rendering more tightly over the 15,000-hour rated life. This item was renumbered from Sylvania product 64793 to 64972; both numbers refer to the same lamp.

METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic T4.5, T6, T7.5 and double-ended products must be operated in enclosed fixtures capable of containing particles as hot as 1200°C. Operating position is HOR +/-45 deg, and the lamp requires a 4000V pulse-rated socket.

• Confirm the base/socket type (RX7s (RSC)) matches your fixture before ordering — ceramic metal halide bases are not interchangeable across wattage tiers.
• Fixture must be enclosed and rated to contain particles as hot as 1200°C — this lamp is not rated for open fixtures.
• Confirm the socket is 4000V pulse-rated; standard sockets are not sufficient for this ignition system.
• Minimum open circuit voltage for starting is 209 VRMS, measured with the ignitor in the circuit.

Safety and Handling Guidelines
