Product Overview

The GE LU600/T is a 600-watt Lucalox® high pressure sodium (HPS) lamp. It ships with a T15 bulb envelope on a E39 Mogul Screw base and is built to operate on an HPS ballast rated ANSI S106. Output is 90,000 initial lumens (81,000 mean lumens) at 2000K and 22 CRI, with a warm amber HPS color.

GE's Lucalox® HPS line offers very high efficacy and low operating cost, with over 90% lumen maintenance at 50% of life. It is a universal-burn lamp that can be operated in any position and used in open or enclosed fixtures.

Not recommended for: retail displays, color-critical inspection environments, or any application requiring CRI above 22.

Safety and Handling Guidelines

• Correct Ballast Required: Use only with an HPS-compatible ballast and ignitor rated for this lamp. An incompatible ballast can cause lamp failure or fixture damage.
• Vacuum Jacket: This is a vacuum jacket lamp and may implode if broken. Wear safety glasses and gloves when installing or removing the lamp, and allow it to cool fully first.
• Sodium Content: The lamp contains sodium — avoid skin contact with broken pieces (chemical burn risk).
• Warm-Up / Restrike: Per GE, HPS lamps take about 3–4 minutes to reach 90% light output after starting, and about 1 minute after a brief power interruption.
• Approved Fixtures Only: Install only in fixtures rated for the listed lamp type, wattage, and operating position; do not use if the outer glass is scratched or broken.
• Mercury Content: Contains mercury. Do not dispose of in regular trash; recycle through an approved lamp recycling program in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
