Product Overview

MasterColor Ceramic Metal Halide lamps featuring ALTO Lamp Technology combine excellent color rendering with outstanding lumen maintenance over the lamp's rated life. ALTO Lamp Technology also means reduced mercury content — these lamps pass the EPA's TCLP test and can be managed as non-hazardous waste, simplifying end-of-life disposal.

The 23368-4 delivers 8,600 initial lumens at 100W with a CRI of 85 and 3000K color temperature, and operates on existing compatible ANSI M140 pulse-start ballasts. Protected (ED-17P) lamps in this family include FadeBlock, an integrated UV-blocking medium that reduces fading of fabrics and paintings.

Compatible Applications

  • General area lighting
  • Downlighting
  • Flood lighting
  • Retail and merchandising display — protected lamps' FadeBlock UV blocking helps reduce fading of displayed fabrics and artwork

Before Ordering – Verify

  • Confirm ballast compatibility — this lamp requires a pulse-start ballast coded M140 or M90; do not operate on electronic ballasts.
  • Confirm base type (Medium) and socket rating before ordering — mogul-based pulse-start lamps require a socket rated to withstand a 4000V pulse.
  • Confirm color temperature (3000K) matches the rest of your fixtures.
  • Confirm fixture orientation supports this lamp's rated operating position.

Safety and Handling Guidelines

  • Shut power off and allow the lamp and fixture to cool before installation or replacement.
  • Use only auxiliary equipment meeting Philips and/or ANSI standards, within the ballast manufacturer's recommended voltage limits.
  • Relamp fixtures at or before the end of rated life — operating a lamp until failure increases the risk of arc-tube rupture.
  • Do not operate on electronic ballasts. Mogul pulse-start lamps require a socket rated for a 4000V pulse.
  • Periodically inspect the outer envelope and replace any lamp showing scratches, cracks, or damage.

Compliance

  • Manufactured by Philips Lighting.
  • ALTO Lamp Technology — reduced mercury content.
  • TCLP compliant — passes the EPA's Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure test for non-hazardous waste management.
  • Complies with FDA radiation performance standard 21 CFR subchapter J.
