Product Overview

SubstiTUBE Value LED T8 lamps are an energy-saving alternative designed to replace traditional fluorescent T8 lamps. They contain no mercury, provide instant light and a uniform light distribution with an optimized glass optic design, and minimize labor costs because they run on the existing compatible electronic ballast.

Because the lamp is not affected by switching cycles, occupancy or vacancy sensors can be used with the existing ballast for added energy savings, and there is no warm-up time: the lamp is instant-on with stable lamp-to-lamp color. The datasheet lists energy consumption reductions of up to 40%.

The lamps with DIM in the order code, including this item, dim on 0-10V with compatible dimming ballasts. The related non-dimmable instant-start (IS) models in the same datasheet (items 40639-40642) are being phased out and replaced with the dimmable models.

Before Ordering — Verify

• Confirm the existing ballast is a compatible electronic instant start or select programmed rapid start T8 ballast with 120-277V or 347V input. Because of the number of ballast designs and topologies, test the lamp on existing ballasts before installing mass quantities.
• Do not use with older dedicated voltage (120V only or 277V only) ballasts — their electronic components degrade over time and may become unsuitable for the lamp.
• Confirm lamp holder type. Lamps with IS in the description are for instant start ballasts only and require shunted lamp holders; this DIM item should be matched to its ballast type per the installation manual.
• De-lamping: not allowed for ISH ballasts. For approved ISN and ISL ballasts, de-lamping is allowed for only one lamp so long as the ballast factor remains below 1.20.
• If dimming is required, confirm the ballast is a compatible 0-10V dimming ballast. The lamp alone does not provide dimming.
• Confirm the ballast is mounted within 20 feet of the lamp.
