Product Overview
The SubstiTUBE® IPS TruWave® Technology LED T8 mimics the natural light spectrum with Sylvania TruWave Technology, controlling blue wavelengths for lower glare and reduced eye strain while properly saturating reds for accurate, vibrant color rendering without sacrificing efficacy. It uses a shatter-proof nano-plastic tube with a G13 medium bi-pin base and delivers a 90 CRI with strong TM-30-18 fidelity scores.
The SubstiTUBE IPS LED T8 is compatible with instant start and select programmed rapid start (IPS) electronic T8 ballasts and is not affected by switching cycles, occupancy, or vacancy sensors, allowing installation with existing compatible ballasts for energy savings without a rewire. Ballast compatibility should be confirmed using the LEDVANCE ballast compatibility guide before ordering.

Before Ordering – Verify
- Confirm G13 base and 4-foot T8 lamp configuration.
- Confirm Type A operation method matches the fixture.
- Consult the LEDVANCE ballast compatibility list before ordering – not all instant start or programmed rapid start ballasts are compatible.
- Do not use with magnetic ballasts, ballasts more than ten years old, or older dedicated-voltage (120V/277V) ballasts.
- Do not install LED and fluorescent lamps in the same fixture.
Safety and Handling Guidelines
- Turn power off before installation, inspection, or maintenance.
- Install and operate in compliance with NEC, UL requirements, and all applicable codes and regulations.
- Insert and align tubes properly in lamp holders – partial insertion can cause poor contact, arcing, and localized overheating.
- Do not expose wiring to sheet-metal edges or other sharp objects; do not alter enclosure openings during kit installation.
- For instant start ballasts, use lamp holders with an internal shunt or wired in a shunt configuration; for Programmed Rapid Start ballasts, use non-shunted lamp holders.
- De-lamping is not allowed for ISH ballasts; for approved ISN/ISL ballasts, de-lamp is allowed for only 1 lamp so long as the ballast factor remains below 1.20.
- Maximum mounting distance between tube and ballast is 20 feet.
- Do not use with other LED or fluorescent lamps on the same ballast.
