Type A+B (hybrid) LED T8 tubes can operate in either ballast-compatible mode or ballast-bypass mode. This dual-mode flexibility allows the same lamp to be used as a simple plug-and-play replacement today and later converted to direct-wire operation if the ballast fails or is removed.
