This makes it appropriate for enclosed, high-ambient-temperature fixture installations where standard ballasts would fail prematurely due to thermal stress. ProStart programmed rapid start preheats lamp cathodes before striking the arc, protecting filaments and extending lamp life in high-switching applications.
