GE 93134829 LED35ED17/730/HAZ - 35W LED HID Hazardous Location Lamp 3000K 5,000 lm E26/EX39 120-277V
The GE LED35ED17/730/HAZ is a Type B LED HID retrofit lamp UL-certified for installation in hazardous (classified) locations. At 35W and 5,000 lumens at 3000K warm white, it directly replaces 70W high-pressure sodium or 100W metal halide HID lamps in petrochemical, food processing, grain handling, and heavy industrial environments. The E26 medium base ships with an EX39 mogul adapter included for use in either socket type, and the lamp includes 6kV surge protection. 50,000-hour L70 rated life delivers approximately 2.5x the service life of the HID lamps it replaces.

Product Overview
This is the 3000K warm white variant of the mid-output GE LED ED17 hazardous-location lamp. At 5,000 lumens it sits between the 21W (3,000 lm) and 45W (6,000 lm) variants, directly replacing 70W HPS or 100W metal halide ED17 HID lamps. The 3000K warm color renders well for indoor industrial work areas where a softer light is preferred — or for HPS-to-LED conversions where customers want to preserve the warm visual character of the original sodium lamp installation. Maximum ambient temperature is 55°C. Includes 6kV surge protection and ships with the EX39 mogul-base adapter.
Compatible UL-Certified Fixtures
This ED17 lamp is approved for use as a retrofit in the following UL-listed hazardous location fixtures (verify exact classification coverage per fixture family in the GE installation guide):
- For gas/vapor applications (Class I Div 2 ABCD): GE Lighting Filtr-Gard® H2 Series, Appleton Mercmaster™ II, Appleton Mercmaster™ III, Crouse-Hinds Champ® VMV, Thomas & Betts Hazlux® 3, Hubbell Killark® VM Series, Holophane Petrolux® P3M
- For combustible dust applications (Class II Div 1 EFG; Div 2 FG): GE Lighting Powr-Gard® H9 Series, Appleton Mercmaster™ II, Appleton Mercmaster™ III, Crouse-Hinds Champ® VMV, Thomas & Betts Hazlux® 3, Hubbell Killark® VM Series, Holophane Petrolux® P3M
Note: GE Filtr-Gard H2 is approved only for gas/vapor (Class I), while GE Powr-Gard H9 is approved only for dust (Class II). Other manufacturers' fixtures cover both classifications. Refer to the GE installation guide for the complete approved-fixture list and required fixture relabeling instructions.
Typical Applications
- Petrochemical plants, refineries, drilling rigs, and oil & gas production facilities
- Food and beverage processing facilities
- Grain elevators, flour mills, and agricultural processing operations
- Chemical manufacturing and storage
- Coal handling and carbonaceous-dust environments
- Indoor industrial work areas where warmer light is preferred for visual comfort
- HPS-to-LED conversions where customers want to preserve the warm visual character of the original sodium lamp installation
Before Ordering – Verify
- SKU availability: Confirm with ADL Supply that this CCT variant is in current production. The 3000K LED35ED17/HAZ is not listed in GE's latest published family brochure; verify before placing project-quantity orders.
- Confirm the existing fixture is on the approved UL-certified list above. Use in non-listed fixtures voids hazardous location certification.
- Confirm the hazardous classification of the installation zone matches the lamp/fixture combination's certified rating
- Confirm the fixture's HID ballast has been physically bypassed or removed — this lamp will not operate on an existing HID ballast
- Confirm socket type (E26 medium or EX39 mogul); both are supported via the included adapter
- Confirm install ambient is between -20°C and 55°C
- Do not connect to phase-cut dimming circuits; confirm current dimming compatibility with the manufacturer if Variac dimming is required
- Per UL requirements, the fixture must be relabeled to indicate the new lamp and updated temperature code after retrofit
- If utility rebate eligibility is required, note that this E26-based SKU is not DLC-qualified; consult ADL Supply on rebate-eligible alternatives
Safety and Handling
Intended for installation in classified hazardous locations. Installation must be performed only by a qualified licensed electrician familiar with NEC Articles 500-506 governing hazardous (classified) location wiring methods. The retrofit luminaire conversion must follow the manufacturer's installation guide, including required fixture relabeling indicating the new lamp and temperature code. Always disconnect power at the breaker and confirm de-energized state before servicing fixtures. Allow lamp cool-down before handling.
Compliance
- Safety Certification: cULus
- Hazardous Rating: Class I Div 2 Groups A,B,C,D; Class II Div 1 Groups E,F,G; Class II Div 2 Groups F,G; T-Code T4
- Location Rating: Damp (UL 1993)
- Wattage equivalency claims per NEMA LS 20037-2024 (formerly NEMA LL 10-2020)
