The GE LED45ED17/730/HAZ is a Type B LED HID retrofit lamp UL-certified for installation in hazardous (classified) locations. At 45W and 6,000 lumens at 3000K warm white, it directly replaces 100W high-pressure sodium or 100W metal halide HID lamps in petrochemical, food processing, grain handling, and heavy industrial environments. The E26 medium base ships with an EX39 mogul adapter included for use in either socket type, and the lamp includes 6kV surge protection. 50,000-hour L70 rated life delivers approximately 2.5x the service life of the HID lamps it replaces.

Hazardous Location Certifications

Product Overview

This is the 3000K warm white variant of the high-output 45W GE LED ED17 hazardous-location lamp. At 6,000 lumens it doubles the output of the 21W variant within the same physical envelope, directly replacing 100W HPS or 100W metal halide ED17 HID lamps. The 3000K warm color renders well for indoor industrial work areas where a softer light is preferred — or for replacing legacy HPS HID lamps where customers want to preserve a warm visual character familiar from the existing installation. Note that the higher LED wattage drives a tighter maximum ambient temperature (45°C) compared to the 21W and 35W variants in the same family — verify ambient conditions before specifying for warm-climate or enclosed-fixture applications. Includes 6kV surge protection and ships with the EX39 mogul-base adapter.

Note: GE Filtr-Gard H2 is approved only for gas/vapor (Class I), while GE Powr-Gard H9 is approved only for dust (Class II). Other manufacturers' fixtures cover both classifications. Before Ordering – Verify

• Ambient temperature: This 45W variant is rated for a maximum 45°C ambient (vs. 65°C for the 21W variant in the same family). If install ambient could exceed 45°C — for example, in fully enclosed fixtures, attic spaces, or warm-climate outdoor installations — consider the lower-wattage 21W or 35W SKUs in this family.
• Confirm the existing fixture is on the approved UL-certified list above. Use in non-listed fixtures voids hazardous location certification.
• Confirm the hazardous classification of the installation zone matches the lamp/fixture combination's certified rating
• Confirm the fixture's HID ballast has been physically bypassed or removed — this lamp will not operate on an existing HID ballast
• Confirm socket type (E26 medium or EX39 mogul); both are supported via the included adapter
• Confirm install ambient is between -20°C and 45°C
• Do not connect to phase-cut dimming circuits
• Per UL requirements, the fixture must be relabeled to indicate the new lamp and updated temperature code after retrofit
• If utility rebate eligibility is required, note that this E26-based SKU is not DLC-qualified; consult ADL Supply on rebate-eligible alternatives

Safety and Handling

Intended for installation in classified hazardous locations. Installation must be performed only by a qualified licensed electrician familiar with NEC Articles 500-506 governing hazardous (classified) location wiring methods. The retrofit luminaire conversion must follow the manufacturer's installation guide, including required fixture relabeling indicating the new lamp and temperature code. Always disconnect power at the breaker and confirm de-energized state before servicing fixtures. Allow lamp cool-down before handling.
