The Halco 89170 is the highest-performing fixture in the Commercial Slim Downlight family, combining an 8-inch smooth trim aperture with an 18W edge-lit LED engine. The smooth trim profile offers the cleanest, most minimalistic appearance in the series, ideal for modern architectural installations where the trim should blend seamlessly into the ceiling plane. Canless spring-clip mounting and a remote driver box with plenum-rated cord simplify both retrofit and new-construction installs.

This SKU delivers the highest lumen output and efficacy in the entire family. Three selectable lumen levels (1100, 1230, or 1500 lm at 2700K) are paired with five CCT options (2700K–5000K). At maximum output, the 89170 produces between 1654 lm at 2700K and 1776 lm at 4000K, with efficacy reaching 105 lm/W — the ceiling of the PDF's stated "up to 105 lumens per watt" claim. The 110° wide-flood beam from the edge-lit engine and frosted PMMA diffuser provides even, glare-free illumination across large areas. TM-30 scores of Rf 92 / Rg 101 confirm excellent color rendering with slight gamut enhancement.

The dual-dimming driver accommodates TRIAC/ELV and 0-10V protocols from a single unit. As with all fixtures in this family, TRIAC/ELV dimming is restricted to 120V input while 0-10V functions across 120-277V. Installers on 277V commercial circuits must use 0-10V dimming exclusively. This fixture carries Energy Star, Title 24, and JA8 certifications but is not DLC listed — a significant consideration if utility rebates are part of the project scope.
