Philips TL-D 18W/08 BLB Blacklight Blue — 18W | 24-Inch T8 | UVA Blacklight Blue | G13 Medium Bi-Pin Base | 15,000 Hours
The Philips TL-D 18W BLB is a specialized 2-foot (24 in) T8 fluorescent lamp with a G13 medium bi-pin base that emits long-wave ultraviolet (UVA) light. A deep blue filter glass blocks most visible light, so the lamp excites fluorescent materials rather than lighting a room.

ADL Supply Expert Application & Replacement Guide
BLB lamps use a fluorescent coating and dark blue 'Wood's glass' envelope to give the classic blacklight effect, transmitting UVA energy in the 315-400 nm range. They are used for forensic inspection, industrial detection (such as fluorescent markers and cracks in parts), galleries, theaters, nightclubs and other entertainment lighting.
The 15,000-hour rated life gives consistent output with fewer maintenance cycles. Unlike some 'blacklight' lamps that look purple when off, BLB lamps look deep blue or black.
This lamp fits standard 24-inch T8 fixtures that have a compatible ballast.

Ballast & Fixture Compatibility
This is a T8 fluorescent lamp and needs a compatible T8 ballast, typically one rated for an 18W or 20W lamp. It will not operate without a ballast or in fixtures made only for LED tubes.
Before You Order – Verify
- Confirm you want Blacklight Blue (BLB). BLB lamps have a dark filter glass that blocks visible light; standard BL (blacklight) lamps look white when off and emit more visible light.
- Confirm the fixture uses G13 medium bi-pin sockets and takes a 24-inch (604 mm) lamp.
- Confirm the ballast is rated for an 18W T8 lamp.
- UVA is the safest form of UV, but avoid prolonged direct exposure of skin or eyes and use shielding where needed.
- If you plan an LED replacement, make sure it is specifically rated for UVA output; standard white LEDs do not produce a blacklight effect.
