The closely related T/E version is 499 mm overall with an R7S recessed single contact base and a translucent envelope — same 1600 W, same 407 mm heated band, but a different holder and a different heat profile. Getting the suffix right is the whole job when ordering.

The clear quartz envelope produces a sharply defined radiant band rather than a diffused one, which suits applications needing concentrated energy on a narrow work path. Wattage density works out to roughly 3.9 watts per millimetre of heated length. Color temperature is 2500K, which on an infrared heater indicates filament operating temperature and therefore where the emitted energy sits in the infrared spectrum — it is not a description of visible light appearance. No front glass cover is supplied.

• Confirm the base is a metal sleeve termination. The T/E version of this same lamp uses an R7S recessed single contact base and will not seat in a metal sleeve holder, or vice versa.
• Confirm both the overall length and the lighted length. This lamp is 503 mm MOL with a 407 mm lighted length. A lamp that fits mechanically can still put the heat in the wrong place.
• Confirm the voltage is 240 V. USHIO builds 1600 W lamps at 144 V, 208 V, 240 V, and 277 V. Operating a heater lamp on the wrong voltage will destroy it or badly under-perform.
• Confirm the envelope finish. This is the clear version, which gives a sharply defined radiant band; translucent versions diffuse the heat profile and reduce hot-spotting.
• Confirm the burn position. This lamp is rated H4.
• Confirm the 10 mm tube diameter clears the reflector or holder.

Safety and Handling Guidelines
