Product Overview
The 88438 is a GE Quartzline® tungsten halogen lamp from GE’s Stage and Studio line, producing 16,500 initial lumens at 3200K with a 300-hour rated life. It uses a T-6 envelope with a G9.5/Heat Sink base and a 4-C8 filament, and is rated for 115V operation.
Quartz halogen lamps are designed to operate within close voltage tolerances; excessive voltage can drastically shorten lamp life. Do not exceed 110% of rated voltage.
Compatible Applications
- Studio and broadcast lighting fixtures
- Stage and theatrical lighting instruments
- Replacement in fixtures specified for the HPL575/C 115V lamp
Before Ordering – Verify
- Confirm the base type (G9.5/Heat Sink) and voltage (115V) match your fixture before ordering.
- GE also lists this lamp family in the other voltage (120V) and as the HPL575/LL/C version with a different rated life; confirm the exact description on your existing lamp or fixture label.
- Do not exceed 110% of rated voltage; overvoltage shortens lamp life.
- Confirm burning position (Any) suits your fixture mounting orientation.
Safety and Handling Guidelines
- Turn power off before inspection, installation, or removal — risk of electrical shock.
- Keep combustible materials away from the lamp and use in a fixture rated for this product — risk of fire.
- Pressurized lamp: unexpected rupture may cause injury, fire, or property damage. Use eye protection and do not touch the glass with bare hands.
- Do not use the lamp if the outer glass is scratched or broken.
- Allow the lamp and fixture to cool before handling; dispose of a broken lamp in a closed container.
