Universal Triad B232IUNVHP-N Electronic Instant-Start T8 Ballast – 1 or 2 Lamp, 108-305VAC

The Universal Triad® B232IUNVHP-N is a high-frequency electronic instant-start ballast built to drive 1 or 2 T8 linear fluorescent lamps (or equivalent U-shaped lamps) across a wide 108-305VAC input range, and can also operate on 140VDC input. It uses parallel lamp wiring, active power factor correction, and anti-striation circuitry, and is certified for F32T8, F32T8ES, F28T8, F25T8, F25T8ES, F17T8, F15T8, F11T8, and F40T8 lamps.

Product Overview

This Triad® ballast uses anti-striation circuitry to suppress standing-wave gas resonance inside the lamp envelope – important for driving modern low-mercury tri-phosphor and energy-saving lamps cleanly. Parallel lamp wiring means that in a 2-lamp fixture, one lamp failing or being removed doesn't take the other lamp down with it.

Electrical performance varies by lamp type, lamp count, and line voltage. The table below summarizes input watts and ballast factor for each certified lamp type at both 120V and 277V; power factor stays above .96 in every configuration and THD stays under 10% except for the 2-lamp F11T8/277V configuration, which runs under 15%.

Before Ordering – Verify

• This is an instant-start ballast – shunted bi-pin lampholders are required at all lamp socket positions. Non-shunted sockets left over from programmed-start or magnetic installations will prevent ignition
• Confirm minimum ambient temperature at the fixture: standard lamps start to 0°F, but energy-saving/28W lamps require 60°F minimum, and F40T8 requires 32°F minimum
• Energy-saving (ES) lamps cannot be used in remote or tandem wiring configurations – direct-wired fixture installation only for those lamp types
• Confirm your lamp type and count against the table above for expected input watts and ballast factor
• Confirm exact factory lead lengths for your build/order suffix directly with the manufacturer spec sheet if lead length is critical for your installation – this datasheet's lead-length table could not be reliably read for this specific build variant

Safety and Handling Guidelines

• Disconnect and lock out power before installing, wiring, or servicing this ballast
• Ballast must be grounded – mount the metal casing flush against the fixture's steel tray using the 8.9" center-to-center mounting holes for a proper low-impedance ground path
• Do not exceed the 167°F/75°C maximum case temperature during operation
• Cap and insulate the unused blue lead to 600 volts for single-lamp applications
