Product Overview
This ballast is rated for 3 DULUX L 40W lamps, but the same physical ballast supports three different lamp options at three different performance points: the standard FT40T5 lamp runs at 100/99W system wattage with 8,505 initial lumens, while Sylvania's FT40DL/28W/SS and FT40DL/25W/SS SUPERSAVER® lamps trade some light output for a lower system wattage — the FT40DL/25W/SS configuration on this ballast draws meaningfully less power than the standard lamp. Which lamp is actually installed changes the wattage and lumen figures a customer should expect, so those figures should always be quoted against the lamp being used, not the ballast's nameplate rating alone.
QUICKSENSE ballast technology protects against overheated lamp bases and sockets and against cracking of the glass wall, using dynamic end-of-lamp-life sensing rather than static sensing methods that can cause false shutdowns; it also auto-resets once the lamp is replaced. Universal 120-277V input voltage means this ballast covers both 120V and 277V line voltage without a separate SKU, reducing the risk of a wrong-voltage installation.
For one- or two-lamp application on this three-lamp ballast, cap any unused blue lead(s) and insulate to 600V. It is covered by Sylvania's QUICK 60+® warranty, a combined lamp-and-ballast system warranty rather than a ballast-only warranty.
